Ser líder en formación y estudios ambientales y de desarrollo humano sostenible tanto a nivel regional como nacional e internacional, realizados al más alto nivel de excelencia, con un enfoque sistémico interdisciplinario y transectorial, en una relación vinculante con el medio social. Esta visión integra las variables y dimensiones características del área transdisciplinar de medio ambiente y desarrollo humano sustentable, convocando la participación de investigadores, investigadoras, docentes, estudiantes y la propia comunidad, con un sello distintivo en el ámbito nacional y regional, enfatizando la integración del conocimiento originado en las diferentes Facultades de la Universidad Austral de Chile.
